Historical Fiction Medieval Times
To Live and Die in 1030
For 250 years, the Vikings sailed the oceans of the world. Their exploits are legendary; they reached far into Russia, sailed the Mediterranean from one end to the other, and crossed the Atlantic to Iceland, Greenland and North America. At one point, they ruled much of England and Ireland. Few cities, even those far from the coastline, were safe from them. But it was not all raiding; they were also settlers and explorers.
Leiv Ericsson had paved the way to North America; others followed. In 1030, Einar Sigvaldsson and his crew departed Norway, their plan to win gold riches in the land far off to the west.
We follow Einar and his crew from Norway to the Norse settlements in Iceland, Greenland and North America. But they do not stop there, in their quest for riches, they acontnue south towards the rumoured cities of Gold and Silver far, far to the South.

Twilight of the North. From Byzantium to Stamford Bridge
THE TWILIGHT OF THE NORTH recounts the exciting story of Erik Sigvaldsson, the younger brother of Einar, and we follow him from the Battle of Stiklestad, as a member of the famous Varangian Guard in Byzantium, back to Scandinavia and eventually to the crucial Battle of Stamford Bridge.
Many of the main characters are nreal. In particular this is the case regarding the kings, Harald Hardrade and Harald Godwinson, and their helpers involved in the invasion of England. In the larger scheme of things, Erik’s story is not as unique as it may seem. From history we know several Viking individuals with destinies as strange, or stranger, than the one described in this book. Harald Hardrade and his exploits in Constantinople and in Europe is certainly one of them.
I have taken great care to be historically correct regarding battles, geograhy, descriptions of the boat, clothing, weapons etc. in both books. Both are available as paperback or e-books. See home tab for information.
Some of the pictures from the books (each chapter starts with a B&W illustration) can be found on the Picture Tab above, or on my facebook page. For those interested in the Viking age there are many special interest groups. Under the History tab are some of my articles about the Medieval times. I am a member of Leif Ericsson Viking Ship in Delaware. Their link is: LEVS
BELOW ARE THE COVERS FOR THE TRADITIONAL PAPER BOOKS. Both available from Amazon.
